Working collaboratively with the owner's stakeholders, including physicians, administrators, department managers, clinical engineering, and other staff, IHP defines and finalizes the project's Furniture and Equipment (F&E) needs. This process establishes the budget and confirms the technical requirements for the project's F&E. IHP initiates the provision of technical information to the design team as soon as the preliminary F&E list is developed. While assisting the owner in finalizing F&E decisions and approvals, IHP concurrently provides the design team with F&E information to serve as a Design Basis. Collaborating closely with the architect's medical planners, IHP supports their design efforts by offering additional information related to space requirements around equipment for maintenance, operational workflows, staff, and patient access. This includes considerations for patient travel paths concerning both patients and equipment.

IHP aids the architect's AutoCAD and Revit work by supplying Revit families with furniture and equipment. Moreover, IHP can populate the Revit model by creating and maintaining architect-approved F&E work sets. Close coordination with the architect's Revit model manager ensures adherence to the project's guidelines and standards. Before the commencement of construction, IHP collaborates closely with the contractor to ensure they are well informed about the equipment included in the project and any special F&E requirements that may impact their construction schedule or work efforts.
